Schweitzer Mountain Resort Description
A winding drive through the mountains ends at Schweitzer — named in honor of the hermit who legend says roamed the peaks. The resort is open during the summer from mid June - Labor Day, then again from Thanksgivng through early April for ski season. Lodging is primarily well outfitted condominiums with some hotel-style rooms also available.
Planning Notes
- Stay put. Because of the difficult winter drivng conditions, consider splitting a stay to the area between in-town accommodations and a few nights at the ski resort; although many locals certainly make Schweitzer a day trip, those unaccustomed to driving in snow and the mountains might do well to stay overnight if skiing more than one day.
