An excellent deal for the budget-minded family, the Kauai Palms Hotel has 28-rooms in a plantation-era building that were recently renovated, clean, and decorated with island-style furnishings. Staying here is a real Kauai experience: space with students and budget conscious world travelers, walk to some of the best local restaurants in Lihue, and go play in Kalena Park playground, which is a block away.
Planning Notes
- Ask for a room with a view. Get a great window shot of the Kipu Mountain Range.
- Upstairs for trade winds, downstairs for air conditioning. The upstairs rooms (which are the least expensive) are cooled by cross breezes, the downstairs rooms all have brand new air conditioning units.
- All rooms have mini-fridges. Some have kitchens and kitchenettes. Though these are more expensive, they still cost less than $100 a night.
- Arrange for after-hour check-in or departure The front desk is only open from 7 a.m -9 p.m. so you'll need to let them know if you're arriving late.
