Reviews of Disney's Wilderness Lodge

The most themed resort

What we loved:
Boat to MK

What we didn't love:
limited counter service food

We had a courtyard view, with a queen bed and bunk beds. It was lovely and the theme did not falter from the carpet, to the wallpaper, to the bedspread. The lobby is a site not to be missed, and the fireplace cannot be described -- it looks like it really was lifted right out of the Grand Canyon. We took time as suggested in other resources to examine the resort. We found the most beautiful nook on the 4th floor above the entrance. It had a nice couch, comfy chairs and its own fireplace -- wish I could have taken it home! Our last morning we had a little extra time before leaving and went back to that location. The hotel building seems to be spread out, but in reality its easy to get anywhere. There are paths criss-crossing the courtyard above and below the waterfall. The boat dock is hidden beyond the trees but isnt really that far at all. We even got to see the Water Parade several nights -- one night jumping out of the pool when we heard the music and only walking about 10 steps to see it! The only downside to the entire resort is the limited counter service. Roaring Forks is small, very small, with limited choices. Some of those choices were too eclectic for the kids so they ended up with cheeseburgers most nights, but I did try one of the salads made fresh right in front of me. It was huge and I should have planned ahead to share it with my husband. Breakfast only consisted of three different choices. I prefer the choices of a moderate or even value resorts food court. On our first day we did the PhotoPass Professional Photo shoot and it was wonderful. We walked around the entire resort and saw all the beautiful spots early on. He also mentioned that all the American Indian artifacts and totem poles had been blessed by Native Americans and once a year they come to visit for a week, spending that entire time in the lobby. But I forgot to ask someone before we left just when that happens.... Read More
