Butcher's Chop House & Bar Description
Dinner here is an unforgettable event, but it's not the food that you'll remember. Diners are greeted outside by two serpent sculptures with glowing eyes, and inside by an Indiana Jones-like adventurer's camp where cliff divers hurl themselves 40 feet into the pool below. The sights and sounds of Mexico are a little kitschy but your kids will be wide-eyed nonetheless. An extensive menu means there's something for everyone.
Planning Notes
- See a fire show. A death-defying fire dance is performed Monday through Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m.
- Wait for a cliff-side seat. The best view of the divers and fire dancers is from the tables next to the cliffs.
- Call ahead seating. No reservations are accepted, but you can call ahead on Sunday through Thursday nights to put your name on the waiting list.
- Weekends are crowded. Even though there's capacity to sit a whopping 880 people and the restaurant is four stories tall, waits on Friday night and all day Saturday can extend to 90 minutes. Arrive before 6:30 on Friday night for a shorter wait.
- See a flick. A 13-theater MegaPlex connected to the restaurant makes it easy to take in a movie before or after you eat.
- Take public transportation. There's a light rail TRAX stop just behind the parking structure (about a 30 minute ride from downtown). Driving from downtown takes about 15 minutes.
