Old Hickory House Description
You can't visit Charlotte without trying some barbecue, and this is the best barbecue in Charlotte. Slow-cooked over an open pit, the aroma alone is enough to draw you into this down-home restaurant. Live like a real southerner and wash it down with sweet iced tea. The décor is half the fun for kids—see if they can guess what all the farm implements on the walls are for.
Planning Notes
- Closed Sunday. Plan ahead—it's a definite don't-miss.
- Taste test. Try the Brunswick stew. Nobody knows exactly what's in the Old History House version but it's a local delicacy and goes perfectly with barbecue.
- Very casual. Don't bother dressing up for Old Hickory House. This is as down home as you can get.
