The Pickle Barrel Description
This restaurant's sandwiches are famous in Montana for being utterly delicious and huge. All ingredients, including the bread, are made fresh daily. Kids will love the locally made ice cream in unique flavors like Moose Moss, a delectable mint chocolate chip with huge chocolate chunks. Don't forget to help yourself to a pickle from the barrel.
Planning Notes
- Don't be fooled by the half sandwiches on the regular menu.They're about the size of a thick 6-inch sub, so consider the quarter-sandwich special for smaller tummies.
- Taste the original. If you're visiting the Museum of the Rockies, visit the original Pickle Barrel across the street on West College Street in an old barbershop. Plan for take-out -- indoor and outdoor seating are available, but limited.
- More to love. If you're visiting the historic district or downtown, visit the second location in the Rockin' R Bar at 209/211 East Main Street. There's more seating, and nachos and quesadillas are served after 5 p.m.
- Get it delivered. If you'd rather relax in your hotel room, call for delivery (offered Monday-Friday 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 5-10 p.m., Saturday-Sunday 11 a.m.-10 p.m.).
