Don't let the lush ambiance of Jack Stack's dissuade you from bringing the kids along for a meal here or they might miss out on some of the best barbeque of their lifetime. It helps that kids are both welcome and accommodated, with a crayon-ready kids' menu and souvenir plastic drink cups with lids. Parents: Try one of the combination dinners to sample the house specialties, especially the "burnt ends," and save room for the carrot cake.
Planning Notes
- Eat outdoors. If your kids are into trains, request a seat on the cozy patio, where you can see freight trains amble past nearby Union Station.
- Walk from Crown Center. If you're staying at either of the hotels located at Crown Center, take the elevated walkway, the Link, to Union Station; from there, it's a couple of short blocks over a bridge traversing several train tracks beside Union Station.
