Romy's Kahuku Prawns & Shrimp Description
Traveling down the North Shore along the Kamehameha Highway you'll spot numerous shrimp trucks and shave-ice stops that look like they've been painted by circus clowns. Romy's Kahuku Prawns & Shrimp, housed in a bright-red building (not a truck), sits among them and offers up shrimp they've raised and cooked themselves. Let the kids dive in hands first as they learn how to peel the succulent shrimp.

- Clean up. Make sure to grab plenty of napkins; these snacks are messy!
- Take it easy. At Romy’s, you’ll spot a small sign in the window that says, “This is not fast food; it is good food, as fast as we can make it.â€� Remember that things are laid back in Hawaii. Being in a hurry will only frustrate you and your servers.
- Also try Giovanni’s. A great choice if Romy's is just too swamped, these folks have been dishing their hot and spicy shrimp for 15 years.
- Get shave ice afterwards. Hawaii’s version of a snow cone is sold at Matsumoto’s Shave Ice (http://www.matsumotoshaveice.com/) or Aoki’s Shave Ice, both in Haleiwa. Ask for ice cream on the bottom.
