Merriman's Restaurant Description
"This is the awesomest dinner ever," said a very pleased pint-sized customer. Award-winning Merriman's is known as one of the finest restaurants on the Big Island, and that reputation is well deserved. Using fresh, local, and mostly organic ingredients, Merriman's offers gourmet food in a kid-friendly, comfortable setting (we saw half a dozen wee ones dining there). Impeccable table service, windows that overlook a cascading fountain, and Hawaiian music add to the ambience.
Planning Notes
- Reservations recommended. The restaurant gets packed around 7 p.m.
- Try the lamb. Locally grown from a ranch just down the road, the lamb is so tender it melts in your mouth.
- Don't expect portion distortion. If your family is hungry, plan to order appetizers, salad, and a main dish. Portions are not oversized and may seem smaller to some diners than normal.
- Walk in the garden outside. If your kids get antsy, take a stroll through the grounds where cherry tomatoes, fennel, and other vegetables that supply the restaurant are growing in abundance.
