Sweet Leaf Smokery and Eatery Description
A local favorite, less touristy and cheaper than a place like Lady & Sons, Sweet Leaf's is a charming hole-in-the-wall on Abercorn Street that serves smoked meats in sandwiches and burritos. The original art, collage tables, funky d‚cor, loud clientele, efficient service, and great food make it a perfect place for kids. Skip the kiddy meals, though, and order off the real menu. Pulled pork, anyone?
Planning Notes
- Go early for lunch. Reservations aren't accepted but you can avoid the crowds by getting there when they open at 11 a.m. or after the lunch rush (2 p.m. or later).
- It's close to Forsyth Park. Visit before or after you eat.
- No American Express. Pay with cash, MasterCard, or Visa only.

This ONCE was the best BBQ place in Savannah. The food is OK (it was once GREAT!), but be prepared to wait an absurd amount of time for something as simple as a BBQ sandwich. Don't go Monday through Wednesday or they will be out of most everything. Read More
