Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Description

Alfresco dining gets a new twist at this creative establishment, a place that, despite being indoors, feels every bit the retro, outdoor, night-time, drive-in movie theater it purports to be. Stars twinkle while patrons (in vintage cars, naturally) dine on sandwiches, salads, and soda pop in this remarkably authentic haunt. You even get the creature-feature flick to go with it.

Kid Tips

Toddlers & Pre-K: The restaurant is loud and dark. Dine with a character if you and your kids prefer a mellower dinner experience.

Planning Notes

  • Reserve your spot. This parking lot fills up fast. Reservations are recommended.
  • Take a "ride." The restaurant has pub tables at the back, but the experience just isn't the same (on the flip side, if you're just here for the food, you may get in quicker that way). To get the full effect, make sure to ask for a car.

What we loved:
All the fun of a Drive in without the mosquitoes!!

What we didn't love:
The menu needed a serious revamp at one time...Disney fixed it!

We never miss this piece of cinematic history. With Drive ins disappearing all over the country this may be our children's only chance for a true Drive in experience. And honestly the food is better than a real Drive in and, because it is actually indoors there are no nasty mosquitoes to deal with!
We went before the menu revamp and had to actually send a dish back. It was some kind of hot dip. Back then the menu was trying to be too upscale for the theme. Luckily Disney fixed the menu back to a more "Fast Food" with class style. As long as you think "Drive in" you will not be disappointed. We had really great sandwiches and fries, and the specialty old fashioned sodas with the crazy ice cubes are great. The prices were pretty good too, your paying for the atmosphere so Its still more pricey than counter service but not by much. I take that back 9our last trip was a year and a half ago) Definitely go for lunch I just checked the newest menus unfortunately they went back to snotty expensive foods for dinner.Read More

What we loved:
You can't beat the atmosphere of sitting in the cars with fun lighting!

What we didn't love:
Food was not very good. Unless you're on the meal plan, you feel cheated.

Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater is lot of fun - good ambience, decent waiters/waitresses (although while we were there on our honeymoon, our waitress was not the friendliest). Despite the waitress not being friendly, they gave us the front car in the front seat - just because it was our honeymoon! You MUST tell them these things when you book the restaurant though.
For some reason, I chose the shrimp primavera - not good. Burgers & fries are your best bet and honestly, it's all about the experience anyway, right?
Fun atmosphere.
Good entertainment.
Funny movie clips.
Decent food.

We always come back here each time we're in Disney, so it must be pretty good!
Overall, I'd give it a 7.5 out of 10.Read More

Best seat in the house - front & center!

Food

We have eaten at the Sci Fi many times, my children absolutely love eating in the "cars", the feeling of being outside at night, and the old time monster movie trailers on the movie screen. They love the kid friendly burgers, fries, and shakes. The adults have less of a selection. I have been dissapointed in most of the food I have gotte there, I would definitely stick with a burger and fries. the food is also a bit pricey and it is definitely not worth one of your able service meals if you are on the Disney Dining Plan. it is a fun place for kids, just don't expect too much from the food.Read More
