The reason you go to Chef Mickey's is the one-on-one time with the main Disney characters - not the food. I get that. We went for the breakfast buffet. The food was fine. I don't really have anything to complain about when it comes to the food. The characters were great. I felt like they spent a good amount of time at our table and our son. They didn't seem rushed. BUT (and this is a big but and in no way is this an exaggeration) I was extremely unhappy with the service and the BIRDS! The Contemporary is a wonderful hotel. And yes, it is neat that the Monorail goes through the hotel, but there is nothing blocking birds from coming in. After we were seated in the restaurant, I went to the buffet to get food for our 2 year-old. While I was away from the table, birds pooped on the table, the seats and on my husband seated at the table. When I got back, my husband went to the restroom to clean up and I asked one of the employees, who was sweeping, if there was some way to scare away the birds that were perched above our table. She left and I never saw her again. A few minutes later, our waiter appeared. He put a napkin over the poop on the table and said he would come back to clean it up. That was the first and last time anyone acknowledged what had happened. No apology, no effort to scare away the birds - nothing. The birds were eating food off the floor and they were perched over the buffet. The buffet was covered enough that the birds weren't getting into the food. We spent the whole meal watching out for the birds, making sure they weren't perched over us and, after flying by, that there wasn't poop on the table or our food. the interaction with the characters...they take their time and it was great

Long lines to get in

There was 12 in our party, and we enjoyed the characters, the food, and we loved the waiters and servers....They stood around and snapped pictures for us, the characters are grand.....We stayed for a long time, noone shooed us away...The pictures are there to help us all remember the wonderful time.....We had our three grandchildren and what a special treat for all of us..Layed back, relaxing and service and food good..Characters were outstanding...We went the first week of December, 2007... Little ones are intimidated by the big characters

This is a blast, but be aware that your youngsters will be frightened by the big characters looming over them. My son was terrified when big Goofy stopped by the table. Now a cynical 7-year old, he seems to adore being around the characters. Read More
