News Cafe Description

The food is good and the prices reasonable, but it's the chic people-watching from the outdoor courtyard facing Ocean Drive that teens will love, making this a must-stop South Beach eatery. It's best to go for breakfast, lunch, or an early supper (the café is open 24 hours), where you can find the usual favorites (pizza, burgers, eggs, sandwiches) without having to wait too long for a table. The bad news is that there's no kids menu here, so two younger kids would be fine sharing one ample adult portion.

Planning Notes

  • Try going at off hours. This place is popular and they don't take reservations.

What we loved:
Great location steps from the beach, great brunch

What we didn't love:
Long wait if you get there during the lunch rush!

Knowing News Cafe was right in the middle of South Beachs action, we decided to take our family here during daylight hours but its open 24/7 if you find yourself getting into your hotel too late for a normal restaurant and dont want your toddler to naw on the crayons at Dennys. Its a casual place with a mix of indoor and outdoor seating...the kids chose to sit innside to be nearer the tropical decor, of course. I loved my sandwich, the kids dug into their burgers and we all split an order of berry pancakes. Hubby and I people watched while the kids rave and still do about the smoothies yiou coudl order that came in a hollowed out cocounut carved to look like a monkey! OK, it was a pain trying to stuff those monkey heads in their duffle bags for the trip back home, but the kids sure got a kick otu of it. Read More
