Thomas Sweet Description
If you're an ice cream lover, you can't leave Georgetown without a walk up Wisconsin Avenue to Thomas Sweet Ice Cream and Chocolate. Started in Princeton, New Jersey, this place feels like an old-style ice cream parlour. Despite the occasionally impatient server and the summertime lines out the door, it's worth it for the creamy, generous scoops of ice cream (regular or soft serve) and outstanding frozen yogurt. There's a huge assortment of flavors including my family's favorites: Dulce de leche, pistachio and coffee Heath Bar crunch. Blend-ins are big, and there are chocolates and fudge, too, if you still have room after the ice cream. The word is that Michelle Obama and her girls are regulars here — so keep a lookout! Be sure to check out our other Georgetown vacation ideas.

Kid Tips
School-Age Kids: Portions are generous, so unless they're huge ice cream eaters, the kids should get the kids' size. Also, younger kids may need help reading the menu, which is hand-written in script.
Planning Notes
- Be prepared to wait in line. The line can be long, but it does tend to move quickly. If there's room, sit at one of the tables outside.
