Ben's Chili Bowl Description

In its hole-in-the-wall spot since 1958, Ben's pulls in chili lovers of all ages (and dietary proclivities: for a chili restaurant, the vegetarian options are impressive). Perfect for families, Ben's is authentic, non-chain, cheap, and friendly. Chrome and vinyl fixtures, a bluesy jukebox, and celebrity photos on the walls make this restaurant a fun experience.

Planning Notes

  • Do double duty. Off the beaten tourist track, to get to Ben's you take the Metro and get off at the U Street/Cordoza stop. You can combine your meal with a visit to the nearby African-American War Memorial.
