Sofia Restaurant Description
Described as "fusion," this is really just great Costa Rican and International cuisine with a fresh, rain forest twist on everything. Lots of dishes topped by pineapple or mango-based sauces and salsas, and colorful salads chock full of eclectic ingredients. Cocktails are a specialty, and the mango-ginger mojito has become justifiably famous. Kids will love the quesadillas and mashed sweet potatoes; more adventurous teens will join parents in appreciating the prawns served in a coconut curry or the pork loin with figs. But the reason kids will want to return is the desserts; delicious takes on chocolate mousse, flan, and rich dense cakes.
Planning Notes
- Plan ahead. The first time we went to Sofia it had just opened and we had no difficulty getting a spot, but I've heard that since then it's been listed in many major guidebooks and become very popular, so call ahead for reservations if there are more than two or three of you.
