Restaurant Cambute Description
At this festive outdoor cafe, a favorite of locals, you sit at handcarved tables shaded by fragrant Guacaste trees and wait for your fish or casado (the local combo plate of meat, rice and beans) while watching enormous butterflies flit among the flowering shrubs. Indulge the kids with the tropical fruit drinks, particularly the local favorite, Guanabana. Once they try it they won't want to drink anything else..
Planning Notes
- Take your time. The service at Cambute is fairly slow, but the atmosphere so pleasant that you're happy to while away an hour. The owner, from whose nickname, Cambute (Spanish for conch), the restaurant took its name, is a jolly soul who loves kids, so don't be surprised if he stops by your table for a cheerful exchange.
