Mexican
Cafe Coyote y Cantina Description
A charming, boisterous, kid-friendly place where Mexican women in traditional garb hand-make flour tortillas (watch them while you wait for your table) and serenaders come around singing Mexican songs. After your kids color their menus they can redeem them for two free candies at the candy shop on the esplanade.
Planning Notes
- Reservations are a good idea. Make them by phone at (619) 291-4695. This popular spot is often crowded, especially on the weekends.
- Combine with a trip to Old Town San Diego State Historic Park. You can work up an appetite by going there first (it's just down the street) or go after you eat and walk off your meal.
- Allow extra time for parking. The small lot below the restaurant provides two hours of free parking, but it fills up early (especially on weekend nights). Limited street parking is available as well.
