Anthony's Fish Grotto Description
"The restaurant!" an enthusiastic 8-year-old shouted when asked what was best about her day in San Diego. Right on the water, Anthony's Fish Grotto has gorgeous views of the harbor, deliciously simple food, balloons and crayons for the kids, and changing tables in the bathrooms. No wonder it's a popular place for families in San Diego!
Planning Notes
- Call ahead for seat security. Reservations aren't accepted but if you contact the restaurant for priority seating you can expect a shorter wait time than if you just walk in.
- Go before 6 p.m. or after 8 p.m. Avoid the dinner crowds.
- Right on the harbor. This restaurant is next door to the Maritime Museum, which has a tall ship, a submarine, and pirate shows on the weekends; and also right near the USS Midway, an aircraft carrier that's open for tours. If you have a budding war boat enthusiast, take a tour.
- Walk off all that fish. A walkway stretches around the bay and is a good place to run around either before or after dinner.
- Bring change. Parking is on the street, so plan to feed the meter a whole bunch of quarters.
- Close to the airport. This is a great place to eat if you're on your way in or out of town.
