Big Sur Bakery & Restaurant Description
Originally founded as a bakery, this Big Sur staple is now much more. Yes, they have wonderful coffee cake, morning buns, and other baked goods, but they also serve savory soups, salads, and sandwiches for lunch and get quite exotic with the dinner menu. (Though kids will be happy with their wood-fired pizzas.) Staying for dessert''s a must.

- Consider take-out: The bakery and restaurant are in adjoining rooms; the bakery is more low key so for a quick meal on the way to the beach, just grab coffee, pastries and a slice of quiche or frittata and sit outside in the sun.

Hours: Bakery opens daily at 8 a.m.; the restaurant serves lunch Tuesday-Friday from 11-2:30 p.m. and dinner Tuesday-Saturday from 5:30 on. Weekend brunch from 10:30-2:30 is truly special.
