Grand Teton National Park and Snake River
In mid-January 2007 I traveled to Jackson, Wyoming on family business and had the opportunity to take a solo drive through the snowy landscape on a very cold day. I found myself at the Snake River Overlook along US89 facing the Grand Teton Mountains on a morning where the temperature was -31F. Only idiots were outdoors that day so I had the road and valley all to myself, anyone that has been there during the tourist season knows how unique this feeling is. The sky was a beautiful, bright blue and the air was perfectly still. The only sound I heard was the gurgling of the Snake River 1000 yards in front of me. I stood there in the silence and absorbed this spectacular scene that appeared to be created and displayed just for me. It was one of the most serene and beautiful moments of my life.
