Shrouded in One of the Mysteries of Yellowstone

In June 2007, our family climbed into our minivan for a whirlwind tour out west. In our 13 day vacation, we travelled through Iowa to visit my mom's childhood home, and S. Dakota to show our girls Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse and Deadwood on our way to amazing Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming.

Yellowstone is a spectacular park. It is filled with natural wonders like geysers and paint pots like the large one in this picture. Here my husband and daughter are strolling on one of the many boardwalks that span these impressive features. The mist rising from the scalding water was in deep contrast to the beautiful clear skies. We hiked every day and enjoyed the breathtaking views in addition to spotting wildlife. We saw elk, buffalo, wolves, grizzly and black bears, pelicans, and hawks

I was so proud of our amazing country and loved the opportunity to show my girls the beauty and power of nature. It was a wonderful vacation that I know brought our family closer together.
