Favorite Vacation Moment

Glen Canyon, UT

Scary storm, but the best vacation of my life!!!

by yccola March 10, 2008

mom, hubby, son & I now. I have no pics from 1973, just great memories!

I'm 40 years old now, but when I was 7 my family took a 2 week vacation to Lake Powell, Utah. We stayed in a houseboat on the lake just cruising around, and staying at different banks from night to night. There was one place that we stayed at that had a very high dirt ledge that you had to climb up to get on the land, (about 3 feet) so my brother and I carved stairs in the very hard dirt. That night a monsoon hit the lake. We were sleeping in tents on the land that night, and my father picked me up and ran. If it hadn't been for the stairs that my brother and I had made earlier that day, he would have ran strait off the edge! We did end up falling, but thank god we all made it to the boat not too hurt. We slept in the small 'under the seat' cabinets for the rest of the night, and listened to the tree branches break and fall all around. Not one hit the boat. That was by far the most fun i've every had on a trip in my life.
Sincerely,
