Snow Day in Texas

by CWaggoner1972  March 11, 2008 | Conroe, Texas

"Mr. Freezy" the Snow Bear

My family and I live just North of Houston, Texas. My children, Chloe 13 and Gracie 10, have never seen snow. br/So earlier this month when my Fiance, Glen, saw that there was a chance that there would be a snow storm moving across the state further North, br/we all woke up at 5am to try to chase it down and have a "Snow Day". br/It was about 100 miles up I-45 when we found the perfect conditions. A picnic area with a beautiful 2 inch thick white blanket. The girls were br/thrilled to feel the crunch under their feet for the first time. We had a snow ball fight and Glen taught us how to roll the snow to make br/our small Snow Bear. br/As we headed back South towards home, we saw that all the snow was already melting. We had timed it just right to be there for the short time that br/it was cold enough to stay on the ground. br/Its a day we will never forget and an adventure with my family that I will cherish forever.
