Favorite Vacation Moment

First Flight!!

In 2005 my immediate and my extended family 15 in-laws total took a vacation to the Outer Banks in North Carolina. None of us had ever been to the Outer Banks before.br/My husband and I have two children a girl and a boy. At the time of this vacation their ages were 6 and 4 years. br/We had been there for several days and had already done many fun things. Our daughter was so excited about seeing the ocean, but; the one thing she REALLY wanted to do was fly a kite. We went to the local kite store and after much discussion of the lady bug or the butterfly, we purchased the butterfly. br/It was the perfect day for flying a kite. The wind was just right, the warm sun was shinning and we had one very willing kite flyer. On the fist attempt the kite went straight up. Her eyes were the size of silver dollars as she hung on for dear life.br/Our youngest child has down syndrome. He is very active and always running here or there with us VERY close behind. Most of the week he was constantly running right down to the waterline. br/At this very moment he just sat down in the sand to play. Daddy was able to help big sister, and mom, the picture taker, started snapping away. It was a great moment!! br/Our daughter was fulfilling her dream to fly her new kite and our son was giving us a much needed break. We could just relax and soak it all in. She was loving every minute of it and so were we!!
