Dressed for Dinner
Taking our children to fine dining establishments is not something my husband and I ever do, but during our family vacation last year we gave it a go and hoped for the best. My girls, ages four and five, not only enjoyed themselves, but gave everyone at the table, including their grandparents, a hearty laugh.
Knowing that this dinner would not consist of Boardwalk fare, the girls had expressed concern about the food. We began the meal with an appetizer of filet tips and fondue. Carson, the five-year-old, cautiously dipped her meat into the mysterious cheese and sampled a small taste. â¬SMmmm. Itâ¬"s cheddar!â¬ý she declared triumphantly. I smiled and breathed a sigh of relief, knowing how my petite fuss-pots react when they decide something is â¬Syucky.â¬ý Little did I know that the best remark of the evening was moments away⬦
To everyoneâ¬"s surprise, my husbandâ¬"s fish, a sea bass special, arrived with its head still attached, complete with a creepy eyeball staring back at my young onlookers. Carson took one look at the fish plate and announced, â¬SDaddy, thatâ¬"s disgusting!â¬ý To which Lindsey, the four-year-old earnestly countered, â¬SItâ¬"s not disgusting ⬠itâ¬"s wrapped in bacon!â¬ý
