Favorite Vacation Moment

White Mountains, NH

New Hampshire ski vacation trip

my cool space

We are an active duty military family that has done our share of moving around, so most of our vacations have had something to do with relocating or visiting our family. We have three kids and they all excel academically, so when one of them comes up with some off the wall comment it really has us baffled for a long time. We just recently had a wonderful opportunity to combine a family visit with what we call a FFF (Family Fun Fieldtrip). We flew to Manchester NH rented a van and drove to Franconia notch, and stayed in the White Mountains for a week. We met up with Grammy and Grandpa a couple other relatives, enjoyed a white Christmas & skied Cannon Mountain. this was a first for my husband and all the kids, they had a blast it was the best fun ever. Now when our family does anything there is always going to be some moment that takes the cake. Our trip originated in Virginia Beach, and with my husbands quick wit, and my son constantly working on his stand up act your sure to laugh most of the time. We had to change planes in New Jersey and as we were taxiing out for take off. My husband alerts all the kids to look out the window. That is when one of my boy feels the need to inform us all that you wonâ¬"t find the statue of liberty its not in New Jersey. At the time we were all dumb founded, the rest of us were looking right down at it trying to figure out what he meant. For such a bright kid who has done his share of travel it had to be a comment to get us all to laugh. It turned out he never even looked up from his book before he opened his mouth. Well, we couldnâ¬"t let that one go, we still joke him about it. We had soooo many other moments that week. With my daughter seeing snow for the first time, she wasnâ¬"t even sure if it was real. Or my husband staying on the bunny slope all week and renaming it Mt. St. Helen. We had a wonderful FFF, skiing, sledding, building snow forts and enjoying the company of our family at the same time. It was a very memorable vacation. A lot can happen to a family in a week. Whenever a family gets a chance to get away from the day to day routine and running from this activity to the next you get a chance bond and learn more and more about each other. Our holiday was filled with moments sitting around the table talking, playing games, sharing, solving issues, coming up with new ideas and of course eating pie and maple surup at every with meal. The only thing that would make it more exciting is if we hadnâ¬"t stayed in a house but rather in a small hotel room. maybe next time.
