Favorite Vacation Moment

The Berkshires, MA

Taking a "spirit ride"

by heatherweller  March 08, 2008

Mountain Coaster

One of my all time favorite vacation moments was at a ski lodge in the Berkshires during the summer. The resort has several summer-only and year-round attractions, including a "mountain coaster" - a slightly raised roller coaster through the woods, down the mountain, which the rider controls themselves along the track at least the speed of it. My daughter was 8 then, and was already an avid roller coaster fan as I was, but my husband has always refused to ride them with us. br/br/She and I took a few rides down the mountain enjoying it each time, but the big moment came when we convinced my husband to try. Since he was the one controlling the ride, he was willing to do it. She and he rode together and they fleeeeeeeeeeew down the mountain at top speed. She ran off SO excited to have shared the experience with him and gushing about how theyd taken the "spirit ride" as they flew at full speed down the hill.br/br/Getting to see them both share a new experience, something that all three of us enjoyed, and just spending the time together, were what made this moment so special.
