Maine July 2006 Family Vacation

Two years ago, we planned a spontaneous camping trip to Maine. We decided at the last minute , three weeks before, to join friends that had a reservations at a campground that had an open bunkhouse cabin just outside of Acadia National Park. We had never taken the kids camping, 9 and 14 yrs old then, and this was a perfect opportunity to do so. We drove 15 hours straight through to Maine, because I wanted to beat the other family up there, just for the fun of it, and then on the way back, drove 15 hours straight through back and ran into terrible thunderstorms through New York. The kids tasted lobster, lobster rolls, enjoyed Bar Harbor and it was the best family vacation we ever took. Next, hopefully, is Walt Disney World...they've never been there!
