Memorable Vacation

The Kids on a Recent Trip

My most memorable vacation would have to be when my oldest son was three. It was the summer of 1990 and we had found out in March of that year that he had leukemia.I was pregnant with my second son and we were going to choose a trip to Disney through the Make a Wish foundation.I was afraid to take him too far away and with me being pregnant and due in two months, I knew it would be difficult.
Being from Georgia, we decided on a trip to St. Simons Island.I was just happy to get him to the beach. It is one of the most memorable vacations for me.We didn't really do anything special on that trip.It was nice to get away because of what we were going through. We opted later on that year to get him a TV and VCR for his room through the Make a Wish Foundation. We have tried to make a trip to the beach every year since as a family. We've missed a few here and there. We never got to take that trip to Disney.
My son went through three years of chemotherapy but he will be 22 this year.He is living at home and going to college. His brother will be eighteen and I have a six year old daughter.I am so proud of my children.I would love to be able to give this trip to them.
