Amelia with 'Baby' Amy ready for the wedding
in 1999 when my daughter Amelia was 2 1/2 she had her favorite baby doll, Amy, that went EVERYWHERE with us. Our family of 6 plus Grammie went to WDW because my cousin was getting married. On the evening of the wedding Amelia insisted that Amy go to the wedding and reception. I had a 9 month old and his belongings to keep up with so I was trying to take as little as possible! Naturally the kids started falling asleep during the reception and it was very late getting back to the Boardwalk condo. While getting on PJ's, Amelia started asking for baby Amy. We couldn't locate the doll anywhere and Amelia started fussing. Grammie rocked Amelia while I called over to the Grand Floridian and spoke to the wedding coordinator. I explained where we sat during the reception and that if during cleanup they found a Disney baby doll it belonged to us and where we were staying. On Sunday morning we went down to the pool and distraced Amelia with the clown slide. By afternoon nap time Grammie took both little ones up to the room for nap so Dad and I could stay with the 2 older boys and keep swimming. When Grammie opened the door to the condo, sitting in the entry was a gift bag with balloons and inside was baby AMY!! The note said, I missed my Mommy! Amelia was thrilled to have her baby back - Grammie said Amelia hugged and hugged her baby. When the rest of us returned to the condo the first thing Amelia showed us was her baby. The doll did not leave her sight for many weeks following that event. We were very grateful to the Disney cast members for finding and returning our daughters doll. An event that could have been catastrophic ended up being joyous. We will never forget that experience.
