Favorite Vacation Moment

Walt Disney World

A Special Visit

by JesusFan77 March 10, 2008 | Son: Age 7, Daughter: Age 12 | Pennsylvania

My son with Figment (after their comical encounter.)

My husband and I took our kids on their first trip to Disney in November of 2006. My daughter was nine, and my son, four years old. We had some reservations becuase he was so small and we knew would refuse to ride many rides. But we agreed everyone would have a good time. Well there were a few moments that arose and he would not dare follow his older sister somewhere, so daddy would go with her while he hung out with mom. As it turns out he is quite a buddy to have, as I myself am not an "avid rider" or "thrill seeker" as my husband and daughter are. We took in the sites, characters, and parades, all in stride. On our trip into Epcot, my family was intending to head over to "Honey I Shrunk the Audience" right after lunch. That was fine with us, as the water skipping fountains are in perfect distance. I found a place under a tree as my son chased the hopping water strides from pool to pool. Then he headed towards the little round fountain to catch some "water glops." He stood there for quite a while attempting to catch each one. And he must have been concentrating so deeply that he did not even notice the special visitor who came shuffling out of a nearby doorway. The purple dragon peeked around and looked at him. It was quite a sight! Then he scurried quickly across the sidewalk and right up behind my son. My son was still oblivious! Catching the drops of water in his hand, Figment stayed perfectly in place watching intently over my sons shoulder as he caught every drop. Then he took off running around the fountain in a circle. Ofcourse THAT got my sons attention! He followed him around the sidewalk as Figment ran back into his room. He gave him a big hug. All the while I'm frantically searching for my camera! Where is it?! Finally, time past and the show let out, and we told our family about the encounter with the funny purple dragon. I have no pictures of the special moment, as my camera was inside of the show with my hubby the whole time, but that's why it makes it a favorite vacation moment for me. A perfect memory.
