Favorite Vacation Moment

The title might throw people off when you read it. My husband and I live in NC with our two kids. The rest of our family lives almost 900 miles away in Miami, FL. Last Christmas after spending a longtime saving money to finally go see the family during the holidays we managed to go. Some of our family members we had not seen in almost three years. Unfortunately, the memories were not good. Although I got to see my family and friends it was with mixed emotions. My grandmother got sick while we were visiting and ended up in the hospital. As if that wasnt bad enough the unimaginable happened. After so much time and efforst that parents spend not to mention money on giving their kids a memorable Christmas morning. Our family woke to a Christmas disaster. My mother's house had been broken into and yes, the Grinch stole Christmas. All the toys and presents that had been hidden for weeks and weeks were gone. The kids luckily did not feel the tension as the adults did. We had friends and family that gave all the children a present and they were not left without any joy. My grandmother was released after spending a few days in the hospital. We were very glad to have her back home. With all that had happened you would think that it was the kids that hurt but it was the heartbreak that came seeing my mother's face and all the stress of months of preparation get taken away. It was awful. My husband and I looked at each other while the children were watching the Disney Magical Christmas parade on Christmas morning, in absolute disgust over what had happened and wishing more than anything that next year ( this year) we could make up to our family and to our kids a Christmas disaster.
