Will, age 2, throwing rocks into Merced River, Yosemite Valley, CA
Our family took an almost 4 week vacation to California in 2004. Being from Pennsylvania, it was quite the trek with our 2 little boys, ages 5 & 2. Our oldest is multihandicapped and we were headed out west for an intensive therapy program for him and tacking on a few weekend trips to some interesting places in northern CA. We headed to Yosemite for a 4 day mini vacation as the culmination of our time away. We were floored by the majestic beauty and the refreshing time of relaxation while there. We were able to connect as a family and truly enjoy each other as we explored nature together. One of my favorite memories of that trip was sitting by the nearly dried up Merced River while watching my little boys throw rocks into the river. It was so incredibly peaceful and there was such beauty to behold while watching my favorite little people in the world doing the things boys love to do....throwing rocks and sticks. Sometimes when things get a little crazy during the day, I go to that memory in my mind and its a way to refocus on what is important in my life. br/br/I snapped pictures while I was sitting there watching my sons and this one of the ones I took. My husband had it printed on poster size paper, matted, and framed and it hangs above our fireplace in a place of honor. You can see my 2 year old, Will, throwing a rock into the water.
