I want to recommend the Sheraton Fishermans Wharf Hotel, 2500 Mason Street · San Francisco , California 94133, 415 362-5500! Very clean, colorful, and spacious rooms. They have fire pits going outside the front lobby as well as the pool area, and with a drink in hand it was very relaxing even my boys, 9 yo & 13 yo. enjoyed it! We had booked another hotel, Carriage Inn Best Western, and was VERY dissapointed the smell of the rooms were overwhelming and people hanging out around the hotel made it scary! The boys loved Alcatraz Island @ night, this tour includes a personally narrated boat tour around the island; once you arrive at the dock the tour begins with stories and fun facts all the way up to the cellhouse, once in the cellhouse you are walked through booking and the shower house then the 45 minute audio presentation "Doing Time: The Alcatraz Cellhouse Tour starts. This tour is told by actual correctional officers and prisoners who lived and worked on the Island. I dont want to tell everything but we walked away very excited and couldnt wait to tell family and friends! We also visited Pier 39 and said Hi to the California Sea Lions, walked up Lombard Street to the crookest st, rode a cable car, walked through the Japanese Tea Garden in Golden Gate Park and finally visited the Famous Golden Gate Bridge which was just breath taking and windy! While there we watched a helicoptor go under the bridge which was really cool! To sum it all up this was the best family vaction we have taken and we will be going back. br/
