Favorite Vacation Moment

Disneyland

Disney world, Orlando, Fl.

by barry-rarry-farry  December 31, 2009

We took my youngest stepson there, when he was about 7yrs. old. We booked our plans for after labor day. Got a packaged deal, for a great price! Stayed at the Dixie Landing on Disneys grounds. It was the best vacation ever! We had passes to all the parks, and when you stay on their property, you can go to a bus pick up spot, and ride a bus to any of their parks. No driving involved, no worry of where you parked your car. Also no parking fees! The first day we went to magic kingdom.By the time we got back to our room, it was dark so we changed clothes and went swimming at mickey mouse pool behind our room. Then we were very tired & hungry. We went back to our room, got dried off, & ordered a pizza from the Dixie Landing eating place. Each day was an adventure, we planned what time to get up, get ready, and what park to visit, to make the most of our time there. One day to mgm, one day to epcott ect.. Also one day at typhoon lagoon, the water park! My husband took our son to the water slides, after the wave pool, & I layed out on the beach. I had moved my sun tan chair to a better spot, & after putting on my sun screen layed down. I noticed my chair felt like it wasnt even, so I had to move it again, it was then that I saw a small bump on the ground, where the leg of my chair had been, so I took my hand and brushed away the sand & found a camera case. I picked it up thinking I would find someones camera in it, but instead found only money. A total of five hundred dollars! Three, one hundred dollar bills, two fiftys, & the rest in small bills!! WOW!! There was no name and no address! I decided to wait on my husband to come back, before I did anything. As I had said, we went there in the off season, so there wasnt alot of people around. There was plenty of room where I was on the beach, and I had moved my chair there in order to be alone. It was around 11:00 a.m. when we first got there. The park had just opened at 10:00 a.m. My husband got back to me at about 12:30 p.m. and I told him about my big find. He was as shocked as I was! We talked about for awhile, weighing the pros and cons. Waited there awhile, just to see if anyone came around to claime it, but no one did. We were all getting hungry so we went back to our lockers, to get our money that we had brought. Then went to the gift shop to tell a clerk about our find. The clerk asked us where we had found it at, so we told them & they told us it may have been from the busy season. That it could have been there for a long time. Since there was no name or address, and since no one had called or complained about it missing prior to that, to just keep it ! We were thrilled!! So we got a big lunch! Went back to our lockers, locked up our new find, and went to castaway river, where you float around in the inner tubes on a current around the water. Since we had eaten a big lunch. Before we left, we checked back with the clerk one more time, and still no one had came to look for it. So we kept the money! Our two older children couldnt go with us that time, and our budget was tight. We were able to get them each a Disney beach towel, other things they had wanted! We also treated ourselfs to a nice dinner out to red lobster! It worked out that we also got to stay longer too !! Even if we hadnt found the money, it was still the best family vacation!!
