Family Trail Riding Trip - Buffalo River, Jasper Arkansas

Buffalo River Riding Trip October 2007

The imagination of our four year old son brought new adventure to the horse trails along the Buffalo River in Arkansas. We were either on the hunt for moutain lions, tigers or bears or our son was pretending to be one while he rode with me on our horse. As parents we had been waiting for our son to be old enough to take on a long ride and it was certainly worth the wait. The enteration with him and his discovery of the river and all of its plants and wildlife was fantastic. Even watching him get excited of the splash a rock would make throwing it in to the river enhanced the fact that this has been our favorite vacation. Also, when he fell asleep in the saddle and I cradled him as we went back to camp. Tied in to this experience was the bond between myself and my stallion. He seemed to comprehend the precious cargo he was carrying and hugged the trail as we took my sleeping son up the mountian trails to end the ride.
