  • Adhesive bandages in various sizes, adhesive tape, and gauze pads

  • Antacid

  • Antibacterial gel for washing hands without water

  • Antibacterial ointment

  • Antidiarrheal medicine

  • Antihistamine or allergy medicine

  • Pain relief medicine — for children and adults

  • Cotton balls and/or swabs

  • Cough medicine and/or throat lozenges

  • Motion sickness medicine

  • Fingernail clippers

  • First-aid book or manual

  • Moleskin for blisters

  • Ointment for insect bites and sunburn

For travel, I also keep Visine, a travel-size bottle of tear-free baby wash and a shake-and-squeeze cold pack. Also, I clearly mark on the top and bottom of the bottle my child's name on the children's pain reliever and a big "NO" on the adult's.
