Can't get enough of the red, white and blue? These nine natural and manmade attractions from throughout the mid-Atlantic are a regional representation of what the United States is all about: Liberty, freedom and imagination.

#1: Statue of Liberty, New York

The Statue of Liberty is one amazing lady: She was given as a gift from the people of France in 1886 and helped save New York in "Ghostbusters 2." Starting on July 4, visitors will once again be allowed to climb inside the 151-foot-tall copper statue (it closed in 2004 due to a mixture of safety and security concerns). The torch in one hand represents enlightenment; the tablet in the other repesents knowledge — and is inscribed, in roman numerals, with the date the Declaration of Independence was signed.

Next: International Spy Museum, Washington, D.C.
