We don't usually get a "family" vacation because of our work schedules, BUT we make small or day trips; and that is a vacation too. We drive to state parks and take nature walks, learn something in a local or neighboring museum, or take picnics to the Walla Walla Mission after exploring their gorunds. Most of the places we go are free admission so it's a real budget pleaser. Sometime we get ice cream at a soda fountain or find an old style burger shop. What a way to discover America! My kids being 2 and 6 really like these activities. You don't have to spend alot to enjoy your "vacation"

A few years ago I read about a grandmother who took her family on a vacation every other year. The family spent time together. I thought that was a great idea. So instead of buying things for our four grandchildren we spend time with them. I took the younger two on a Disney cruise when they each turned four - so they had my undivided attention for three days. The older two got a special trip to La Nouba when they turned ten. We've gone camping. We go on day trips to museums, zoos and the beach. This year we will be picking them up in Chicago after their summer with their father. We will visit family in the city and slowly make our way back to Florida visiting family along the way. Before they left we spent a day at Disney Quest. I hope they will have great memories.

There are several of us who haven't had a vacation in years. I am 48, have 3 kids and work two jobs. I can't remember ever having a vacation except a trip visiting grandma. Nobody owes me anything, for those of you who can take your family places, do it. For those of us who can't make your home happy and full of love. We have several days vacation at the local parks, and free events through out our city. The public library is great place to get away too also!
