Cruise Planning Part II: Seven Questions to Launch Your Trip

How do you make planning your cruise vacation smooth sailing?

The first thing that should help it to sit down with your family, grab a sheet a paper and answer the following seven questions (in no particular order):

#1 of 7: Where Do You Want To Go?

Planning

The world is at your doorstep on a cruise:

  • Europe (Northern, Western or Mediterranean)
  • Mexico (either Ocean, many routes)
  • Caribbean (Western, Eastern, Southern)
  • Bahamas
  • Bermuda
  • South America
  • Hawaii
  • Alaska
  • Australia
  • Asia
  • New England/Canada

Certain times of year are better for certain itineraries. Some routes, like Alaska, Asia and Northern Europe, typically draw an older crowd than the Caribbean or Mexico.

Do you want more of a relaxing route with beaches and snorkeling (Caribbean); one that is more infused with culture, museums and historic sites (Europe); or maybe outdoorsy activities like hiking and biking (Alaska).
