My daughters five months old, so I still remember the days of getting ready for baby quite well Trying on maternity jeans. Doing yoga. Figuring out which car seat to buy. Hunting down items I never heard of before, but suddenly desperately needed, like bra back extenders. I remember thinking, wouldnt it be great if you could do all these things in one place?
Well you can, a pregnant friend told me, at Destination Maternity. So I hurried out during lunch break and saw for myself, this chic mall that is the modern moms dream! Under one roof, theres edamame (a heavenly spa); a learning/exercise studio; the upscale childrens store The Right Start; and brand name maternity fashions. It became a fast favorite.
On my really tired pregnancy days, Id waddle straight to the back of the store, where I knew Id instantly find good bargains in Motherhood Maternity. But when I wanted first class, the front mall greeted me with fabulous (and pricier) clothing styles from Mimi Maternity and A Pea in the Pod. Either way, the experience always made me feel better, knowing Id always find something good for work or going out.
Another great pick-me-up here is the edamame spa. Girlfriends, its got every treatment imaginable, customized for our pregnant (or post-pregnant) selves. After the pampering, stop by the learning studio. You can take wellness classes like prenatal yoga, infant massage, and mommy and me yoga, all free.
Another gem is The Right Start, a perfect place to find original toys for the child who has everything. They sell high-end baby supplies too like strollers and car seats. (Think Britax, not Cosco.)
But Destinations is all about the experience, not just their wares. I think its neat that theres a play area for kids, right next to a relation spot for parents. Comfy chairs too. Believe it or not, this place has not one, but two plasma T.V.s. (Surely, a Disney movie is not worth seeing unless its in high-def.) While one churns out cartoons, the other plays whatever mommy wants. All this comes with five-star service; you simply cannot set foot in here without being offered assistance. And while they regretfully cant make the excess pounds that come with your pregnancy suddenly vanish, the attendants will kindly help you locate your clothing size.
