How to Make
Start with a plastic diaper wipes box and 4 plastic bottle lids for the legs. Use sandpaper to rough up all areas to be painted. Wipe off all surfaces with a clean dry cloth. Mask off areas you don't want painted with masking tape. Now you are ready to spray paint. Spray paint in a ventilated area or outside. Let dry then remove masking tape. Glue the bottle lids to the bottom of the wipes box and let dry. Optional: Spray all plastic painted pieces with a spray clear acrylic matt or glossy coating so your paint will not chip with use.
Measure sides, bottom, and lid of box. Cut fabric or felt to size and tape or glue fabric to inside of box. Divide the bottom of box into three equal parts with two pieces of cardboard gluing them into place from front to back. These cardboard strips also serve as a base for the top tray. Use an egg carton for the top tray. It is the perfect size for earrings and rings! Measure and cut egg carton to the size of your box. Punch two holes in center of egg tray and poke pipe cleaner through carton to form a small handle for removing top tray.
Add the details: Decorate as desired with plastic lids, plastic jewels, ribbon, and craft foam. Enjoy!
- Avoid clutter. Keep the background simple -- your gingerbread house or holiday cookie is the star!
- Daytime, natural light is best. If your area is bright enough, try taking the photo without the flash.
- Upload a horizontal photo. If you crop the image on your computer, make sure you keep a landscape 4:3 aspect ratio.
- For best results, make your image 1200x900 (or "save for web").
- With a digital camera, you can take as many photos as possible and choose the best one. Have fun!
