Because we live in Southern California, we are able to celebrate many little events in Disneyland, and we try to go about twice a year. This coming December (2009), we will be staying at the Grand Californian Hotel for three nights to ring in the New Year, and celebrate a year of greatness: a full time job for me, Daughter's first year in High School (complete with EXCELLENT grades and extra curricular activities), and personal goal achievement.
We also love to "retro-brate" each time we visit the Resort. Disney has become an integral part of our family life. When Daughter was just nine months old, she and my mother would love to sit together on Saturday mornings at the kitchen table, looking at the birds in the yard. Grandma was trying to get her to say "bird", and in true Bambi-form, my daughter shouted out "Bird-uh!" so triumphantly!
A year later, we went with friends to the Resort for a day. I took her to the Bear County Jamboree and since we were in the back, I put her up on her feet for a better view. I turned to talk to my friend, when I felt her tiny hand clasp my shoulder and in wonderment say (her first ever complete sentence!), "You're right, Mommy, I can see better now!"
Disney, to us, is not just celebrations. It's our milestones. We don't celebrate Disney, we celebrate Life.
Thanks for being a part of that!
