Hiya Gorgeous, Sorry, I never made it back to the computer. Lisa's youngest daughter (Jessica,21) just found out she's pregnant and is full of questions. You know how it is,mom has answers but mom doesn't know anything. LOL, she's very close to her momma! She stole the phone from Lisa and just talked and talked. Mike came home early from school, class ended early, so I made him dinner and he was very interested in doing taxes. Both his W2's came and now he's antsy about finding out how much we'll get back. Ballpark figure looks impressive. Going to get them done this weekend. Then it was bedtime. I slept like dog poo and am so sore it's not funny, well, maybe it will be later. Missing you lots. Look for me when you get back from mom's dr. appt. Lovin' you, Chelle

The projects that I have knit are in some knitting magazines (I've had them in Knitter's, Family Circle Knitting, and Knitting Digest maybe a few others -- it's hard to remember), pattern booklets, and in a couple of books. I don't think any of them are online, though. I get paid by the project (generally a percentage of what the desgner gets paid for her design) and be sure that I do not think about how the fee would work out by the hour if I were paid that way, because it'd be miniscule. I also have the benefit of usually getting to keep all the extra yarn. It drives my husband crazy as I have boxes full of it in the garage. It's a lot o fun to do because the designer I knit for asks me for my opinion on things that I am n progress with. One time I just didn't think that the trim work complemented the design and so she asked what I thought would be better and let me go with my idea. I've also learned the math of designing patterns from working with her.

I've been knitting for a pattern designer for about a dozen years now. It's fun and challenging and at times I get to knit with yarns I could never afford to make garments out of. The designer emails me the pattern and has the yarn company ship me the yarn they (or she) chooses for the project and then I knit it, block it out, seam it and send it off to her to be photographed for wherever it will be published.
