My daughter came up with the answer for this question.. She said we shouldn't have a national holiday even though he did do alot for this country, there are others who did more and they don't have a holiday. He brought diseases to this country in his rat infested ship. She thinks they should just teach about people of the past in school on their special day and not have a national holiday for them. My daughter took AP History last year.
