Hi, I saw your prayer request on Christian Families. I wanted to share with you that I am bipolar, and I was diagnosed when I was about 12. My mother did go ahead and put me in a long term treatment center...and neither of us have ever regreted anything more. Please, please hang in there and get your son some out patient treatment....it is only going to get worse, because your son is entering puberty, which already comes with mood swings. But remember, a hospital is an institutionalized setting, and comes with the same consequences of people in jail....that alone messes with the psyche....being a child, under the control of numerous people, with no one to take you seriously because you are in a psych ward...it's just dangerous. And, like all things, this hard period will pass...your son will grow up, and he has the same chance as everyone else to be a responsible loving adult. I will pray for you.
