This is not a big deal. Parents opposed to Obama are responsible for politicizing what amounts to a very non-political speech to kick off the school year. Whether you agree with his larger policies or not, I can't see how anyone could disagree with a benign, if encouraging, message to work hard in school. What a great way to use your kids as political tools, by pulling them out of school. (Also, you're probably making your child far more interested in what Obama's got to say by behaving as though this is such a dangerous speech.)

Thanks, ChenoaMom! I think it's a shame that people in this country act like they're doing their kids good by banning them from seeing something harmless. If they don't agree with Obama, this is a way to talk about him at home, but ignorance is doing no one any good, especially when this is so obviously a political power play by the right. (There was no such uproar from parents when Reagan or Bush 1 gave addresses during my school years. )

Not acceptable?

It's refreshing to see some intelligent responses to this question. Boo to disney for leading by poor example! in saying its bypassing our parental rights.
