Joomla isn't a bad framework, however, the bulk of my experience is with Java. The Disney Community site is 100% Java. If you're just getting into software development, I would recommend Ruby on Rails as a quick, easy, robust language that should have you up and running quicker than most other languages. What runs a site, however, is not as important as the design of the site and the user interface. CSS, JavaScript, and AJAX are key to making Disney Community what it is. We actually have separate people that do Interaction Design, Visual Design, Back-End Engineering, and Front-End Development because no one person can be all of them and still make progress in a decent amount of time. Start small, know what key features you want, then implement them, and expand from there. It sounds like you've made a solid start though, so best of luck with it. It sounds like a great idea!

Hi Mark! Sorry for the delay in responding, but they Holidays are crazy for everyone! As for the infrastructure of the Community site, unfortunately it's confidential (for security reasons) and proprietary. It's been developed from scratch internally at Disney. A lot of the systems implemented are modularized so that all Disney sites can use them. For example, your account on Family.com can also be used on ESPN.com. We do, however, appreciate comments and suggestions for improvement. You have been extremely active, and we all really appreciate it! It was good to hear from you, Mark, and I hope you had a great Holiday!

Just wanted to say thanks for the prayers - the Physical Med Doc says that he should be able to manage his back with Physical Therapy, and that it's more muscular than disc (the first doc was wrong). Now if I can keep him from over-doing it and ending up immobilized for hours at a time!!! :) - Becky

That American Hero Group is very intresting, as well as your story. I have a cousin who was in the Marines. We've been unseperable since we were babies. we were to go and sign up for the coast gaurds, Things tend to change after high school, so she decided Marines. No problem we went our seperate way, but still unseperable in a way. We kept in touch she was stationed in Okanawa for a year in half i believe. She came back to the States, then Months later left for Iraq. Thank God she came home safe. After coming home she mentally had a few issues that prevented her release according to their therepist, and also a broken foot. My point is that When she called me crying w/ all this news. I told how proud i was of her that she is much smarter then to let her issues prevent her from getting what she wanted. So I thanked her, as I Thank you.

Heya! Things were great! Hubby got to surprise me and be home for Christmas so it was fun. :D Now if he could only surprise me today (our anniversary) or tomorrow (New Years Eve) that would be awesome! But there's only a few more days until he gets to come home for a few weeks.
