Hi. I read your story and it is very inspiring to hear as a mother who had to return to work shortly after having my first born. My son is now 7 1/2 months old and he was 7 weeks old when he began daycare. It (leaving my son with strangers) was the most difficult thing I had ever done. Like you, I worried how my son would feel about me since he is around his caregivers at daycare all the time and my husband and I have to share the little bit of time we do have after work and on the weekends with him. Well, now he is 7 1/2 months old and he acts like he doesn't know me. He doesn't want me to hold him. He will not look at me and he doesn't respond to me talking to him. But, when his father (we spend equal time caring for my son) and caregivers are around, he strains his neck to see them, visually follows them around the room, gives them huge smiles and laughs and immediately responds to them talking to him. Since you seem to have (I'm guessing) spent about the same amount of time with your child b/c you had to go back to work, I was just wondering if you experienced some of these same behaviors from your child?? I deeply saddens me to feel rejected by my own child when I love him so much.
